Mortgage Fraud
- CIB will attempt to determine if there was any fraud or collusion in the mortgage application process on behalf of the loan officer or broker.
- CIB has Spanish-speaking investigators for translations to assist in the investigative process.
- CIB will locate and interview the Borrower for discrepancies in the loan application and the file documentation, such as W2s, pay-stubs, bank statements, etc, and obtain a signature on the 4506-T income tax permission form. Sometimes, this may require a written or recorded statement from the Borrower.
- CIB will attempt to identify and document undisclosed properties and assets on behalf of the borrower at the time of closing, and whether the same loan officer had been used in previous transactions.
- CIB will conduct employment verifications for the borrowers to determine their gross income from the origin of the loan application and two years prior. We will also re-verify information from the original loan application, such as rent, gross income, gift letters, and letters from CPAs for self-employment.
- CIB will obtain occupancy interviews with neighbors and record sources such as motor vehicle and tax records, to determine if the borrower did or did not occupy the subject property following settlement.
- CIB will obtain verification of deposit of money and bank statements identified in the original loan application.
